that amazes every visitor to this region. As a giant Marine Reserve,
the Great Barrier Reef is home to the worlds largest collection of living
corals and over 1400 species of fish. Water temperatures range from
22c to 28c (75-80 Fahrenheit). The Great Barrier Reef is an attraction

Daintree Rainforest National Park and Cape Tribulation
The World Heritage Listed
Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation is a diverse and magnificent
display of the grandeur of nature. You will witness postcard views of
the Coral Sea against the backdrop of rainforest clad mountains. The
cool mountain water in Mossman Gorge swiftly cascades over boulders
that are washed smooth from hundreds of years of rushing water. The
deep tranquil pools are inviting for a swim. A cruise along the Daintree
River - home to a large variety of birds and numerous saltwater crocodiles
- is one you won't forget. The Rainforest Canopy Tower provides easy
access to the upper levels of the Daintree Rainforest where you can
observe the surrounding ancient rainforest alive with epiphytes, plants
and wildlife. Views across the canopy of trees to Alexandra Range and
Thorton's Peak are spectacular. You are looking at the oldest rainforest
in the world!
Cape Tribulation is a
short drive further north, and is where two wonders of the world meet.
The spectacular ancient rainforest kisses the white sand of pristine
beaches, and the coral reef lies close offshore. The headland of Cape
Tribulation is where Captain Cook began encountering problems navigating
through the Great Barrier Reef. It was soon after passing this headland
that he struck the reef in his ship 'Endeavour' and made Cape Tribulation
an indelible part of history.

The Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail
The Kuranda Scenic Railway is an awe inspiring man made creation. It
runs along 34km of original train track constructed in 1882. Rising
from sea level to 328m, the journey passes through dense tropical rainforest,
across spectacular waterfalls and through 15 hand carved tunnels. The
total trip take 100 minutes.
The end of the line is at Kuranda Railway Station at the top of the
mountain. It is filled with hundreds of tropical plants in baskets.
Kuranda, nicknamed 'The village in the rainforest', boasts a large
array of locally produced arts and crafts as well as tropical produce
for sale at the markets. Other attractions in Kuranda include the Butterfly
Sanctuary, tropical bird aviaries and a diverse range of shops, cafes
and restaurants.
The Skyrail is a unique experience. It carries visiters along 7.5km
of pristine rainforest in gondolas that hang just a few metres above
the rainforest canopy. There are two stations along the way, before
the gondolas reach Kuranda. At these stops, travellers have the chance
to explore and learn about this fascinating environment. The views from
Skyrail are spectacular and include the breathtaking Barron River, Barron
Gorge and the massive waterfall. A free guided tour on the rainforest
board walk is also available.
To learn about Aboriginal history and culture, a visit to the Tjapukai
Aboriginal Cultural Park is a must. See 40,000 years of Aboriginal
history and culture magically presented in a 25 acre park.
These three experiences can be incorporated into a single package and
done on the same day, or seen individually.
